students in themed

entertainment conference

I was a part of the Theme Park Engineering Group at The Ohio State University and helped establish the first-ever, student conference for the themed entertainment industry.  I helped layout the schedule, run errands for supplies and food, and ensured the conference ran smoothly by performing small tasks throughout the conference weekend.  Thankfully, it was very successful!  Our club could not have expected a better turnout.  Please check out the website for more information:

American Standards of testing and Materials (ASTM)

and international association of amusement parks

and attractions (IAAPA)

As a passionate theme park enthusiast, I have had the pleasure of attending both the ASTM conference as well as the IAAPA trade show.  These experiences have not only given me the opportunity to meet amazing people, I was able to expand my knowledge on what safety standards are required and what is available in the theme parks.

The ASTM conference occurs semi-annually to discuss and review each unique committee.  The industry moves quickly and constantly has great technology advances.  These developments need reviewed to ensure the safety of both workers and guests.  I had the opportunity to serve as the secretary for a student committee that was established in 2019.  This opportunity allowed me to have a direct impact on the safety standards.

The IAAPA trade show occurs annually to showcase each and every element an amusement park or theme park could offer to guests.  Anywhere from food, to games, to rides; IAAPA has it all.  As a student, this was a great opportunity to learn and meet many companies that hold a significant role in the industry.

Coaster tours and

theme park engineering group

As a part of the Theme Park Engineering Group mentioned previously, I was able to tour attractions before they were available to the public.  This club was composed of students who were very passionate about the entertainment industry.  In addition to park tours, we would compete in design competitions, attend conferences as mentioned above, network with industry professionals, video chat with grade school class rooms, and much more.  For more information about this student club:
